I Have The Sweetest Son

As most of you know, we bought a house back in the summer. The mailbox still has the former owner's name on it. We had discussed on the way home from the church Sunday night about getting a new mailbox. BUT, of course, I don't want just a plain ole mailbox with our name and address on it. So, we decided to buy a mailbox and take it to someone who paints and have a church with a cross and a heart worked in it painted on the box. Then, Monday, I got on line looking at mailboxes. Do you know how much you can spend on a mailbox???? I saw several listed for over $200.00. I do want a unique box, but not bad enough to pay that much for one. So, I decided to go buy a normal mailbox and take it to a lady who paints and have her do it for me. Tuesday, during school break, Cale would go downstairs and every time I'd even peak down there, he'd yell for me not to come down. That night after supper, Cale and his dad went downstairs and when I went down to get Remington, they BOTH yelled for me to go back upstairs! Later, Cale came up and told me I could come down. He had been so secretive all day, so I grabbed my camera on the way down, and this is what I found!!!! A church mailbox. Our old mailbox is inside the church. Now, we just have to find out if the postal service will accept my new box.... Cale had it put together so I could see it, but he has taken it apart to paint the inside, to prevent rotting, and then, he'll put it back together after painting the outside. I just thought this was the sweetest surprise!!! I'll post another pic. after it's painted, but I couldn't wait to share it with you. I'm thankful for my son. I love you Cale.

Mother's Birthday/Daddy's Birthday- 2010

We took Daddy and Mother to O'Charleys for supper Saturday evening, January 23. The next day, January 24, my daddy would celebrate his 68th birthday. Our friends David, Kathy, and Josh met us at the restaurant. Daddy didn't know they were eating with us! He was very happy they joined us. This cake was divine! It was such a huge piece that after daddy ate all he wanted, we passed it around the table! :)
My precious daddy
Me, Mother, and Kathy
We were posing for David to take a picture and Cale took this one.
My mother celebrated her 64th birthday January 8th. We took her out to eat also but I failed to get any pictures.

Christmas Morn at Home Sweet Home

Our first Christmas in our new home.
2009

It's not the place, it's the people.

It's not the outward, it's the inward.

OH WOW!!!! Cale gave Scot a cordless drill.

Hmmmm, I bet his mind was going wild about now with all the things he could do with this!

Noelle gave Scot jeans and I gave him 2 new outfits.

Cale got needful things. We couldn't get his puppy until New Years Eve, and we wanted him to have some gifts to open. He needed new shirts and warm ups, so that's what he opened on Christmas morn. Noelle gave him 2 new shirts also.

Noelle found lotion, mirror, chap stick, bubble bath, and favorite candies in her stocking.

What is in the stocking? This year it held Sudoku books, favorite candies, lotion, chap stick, etc.

Noelle is hugging her books! She also got a coat, scarf, and gloves. Cale gave her 2 cd's that she had wished for.

Christmas morning, Cale got money to go buy this sweet baby!

Noelle loves her coat, scarf, and gloves!

This is my surprise gift from Scot. (notice the small long gift duck taped on top) (screw driver!) He got me a coat, but I tried it on, so I knew I was getting it. Scot's rule for Christmas is that you CANNOT know everything you are getting; there has to be a surprise. You'd be SURPRISED to hear all the stories I could tell from the past 25 Christmas's and birthdays that involves Scot's surprises! Rolls of duck tape and paper, rocks, and locking me out of the house are just a small part of all the PRECIOUS memories!

"Oh, you made me something!" (yea right!) lol. Inside the cardboard box was a wooden box, SCREWED TOGETHER! What a guy!

Forget the screwdriver; I'm sure glad Cale bought Scot a drill!

Lodge cast iron skillet

Don't think Scot did me bad! ha. I had wished for one of these. He was with me when I was looking at them. I had one when we married, but didn't appreciate it like I should have and sold it in a yard sale years later. My mother's corn bread was always cooked in one of these, and it was ALWAYS delicious! I will appreciate this one and take very good care of it. Cale gave me pink fuzzy house shoes and Noelle gave me some new Winter wall flower refills.

What a woman can do with a drill and a fryin' pan!

Me and my sweetie!

Our new coats!

And a Merry Christmas was had by all....because of LOVE!

Speaking of Mrs. Dotty!

This is Mrs. Dotty! A day or two ago, I posted a recipe for Dotty's Green Beans. I thought later that I should have introduced you all to Mrs. Dotty! I love this woman! She is so WITH IT! She is a very classy lady. Noelle and I always look forward to seeing what color and style of shoes she's wearing each Sunday. We rarely see the same pair twice. If she's wearing a yellow dress, she has on yellow shoes and accessories. Oh, to get in her closet! :) She has wonderful taste in clothes and also great taste in decorating her home and our church. She is always so helpful with the showers, meetings, special occasions, and weddings at church.

Lunch was wonderful! Fried chicken, pork loin, green beans, corn, creamed potatoes, and rolls. For dessert, she served pecan pie and strawberry cobbler. Funny story...her table was decorated beautifully. Fine linens and water glasses just have never fit into our life style I guess. Anyway, when we sat down, there were beautiful off white colored cloth napkins at our places. None of us said a word, but I noticed my kids didn't wipe their hands or mouths on them until they saw someone else do so. Mrs. Dotty and Bro. Herman have a very lovely home. It looked so festive for the Christmas holidays. This couple have been such a blessing and encouragement to our family.

She has 3 dogs. Riley and Paige are Corgi's and Chi-Chi is a chihuahua. Chi-Chi stays inside. Riley and Paige are outside dogs. Riley came running in the house when I was trying to take a picture of him and Paige. Mrs. Dotty is having to get him out! :)

They moved constantly. This is the best picture I got of them.
