Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary By George!

Scot's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 1, 2009. The celebration was held Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Arts & Entertainment Center in Red Bay, Al. This was a day we all had anticipated for several months. The rain came down and the thunder roared for a while yesterday, but it turned out to be a not so rainy afternoon. There was a big turnout of family and friends. The guestbook says 140 people attended, but we know of some that didn't register, so we are guessing around 150 people joined us for the celebration.

I am sharing some pictures that I took, but due to mingling and not being able to get good pictures due to so many chandeliers and mirrors, I will be sure to post more pictures in a few weeks when we get the professional photo's. Food consisted of chicken salad on croissant rolls, ham and turkey sandwiches, fruit tray with dip, cheese and cracker tray, and of course wedding cake, homemade mints, nuts, punch, and water.

I am thankful for my in-laws. First of all, I'm thankful to them for raising such a fine young man that would become my husband and an outstanding daddy to our children. I'm thankful for them being a fine example of faithfulness to God, family, church, and friends.

Congratulations to Gordon and Nora Ann, my wonderful father and mother in law.

Scot's sister displayed pictures of her family on this table.

There were also pictures of Nora Ann's parents and siblings and Gordon's parents and siblings.

Approximately 150 people attended the celebration!

There were people gathered at the TV the entire 2 hours!

A DVD of pictures over the past 50 years played continuously.

The songs on the DVD were "Through The Years", "Forever and Ever Amen", and "Deeper Than The Holler"

They received many nice and thoughtful gifts.

What a lovely event. 50 years is such a great acccomplishment!! My Mom always wanted a big celebration like that on their 50th, but by then she was in the later stages of Alzheimers. We had a party to celebrate both her 75th birthday and her 50th anniversary, and it was so incredibly precious! She cried so I know she understood at least some of it. That was in April of 2004 and she went to be with the Lord two months later. Wow...thanks for helping me to remember the goodness of that day for my Mom.

You ROCK!!

Love 'n hugs,
Becky

May both of our marriages be as long and strong, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Sounds like you all had a great time! Please let them know I'm wishing them a happy 50th as well! We did my parents 50th 2 years ago and it was so much work, but the time of my life. And like you I barely got pictures taken I was running around so much. Thanks for sharing with us!!

Thanks for sharing all the lovely pictures. You should have gotten one of your relatives to take a picture of you and Scot and the kids all together. Ya'll looked so great!

Looked like a really nice place to have an event like this one. Ya'll had it decorated so pretty. I know that things like this take a LOT of planning and getting ready so guess you were tired after it was over.

Scot's parents are a very attractive couple. What a blessing to be able to help them celebrate 50 years of marriage!

God bless,
Mailyn

What a nice day! I hope Jimmy and I live long enough to celebrate our 50th. We will celebrate #18 this June.
