The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Monday, January 11, 2010

Outside my window...
The sun is shining, but it is a cold 22 degrees here. There is still a few patches of snow and ice scattered here and there.

I am thinking...
about how dearly I love our Church Family and that I desire to be a help and a blessing to them, as does my husband, their Pastor.

I am thankful for...
the break Cale and I got from school and a schedule, and for all the time we were blessed to spend with our family and friends since Thanksgiving. I'm also thankful for the privilege of homeschooling. (Cale worked up until Christmas Eve so he could spend extra time with his new puppy after he got him. We couldn't get Remington until New Years Eve due to his age.)

From the learning rooms...
School starts back this morning for Cale. He finished Life Management Class last semester and will begin studying Revelations today in Bible via ABeka dvds. He will continue studying English, Literature, Spelling, Algebra II, Chemistry, United States History, and French.

From the kitchen...
Omelets, coffee, and juice....Supper menu is Baked chicken, Dotty's green beans, baked sweet potatoes

I am wearing...
old faded (comfy) jeans and gray hoody.

I am creating...
several picture books for gifts.

I am going...
to our local Piggly Wiggly grocery store to purchase chicken for tonight's supper.

I am reading...
King James Bible, Three Times Blessed by Lori Copeland, Walking With the Women of The Bible by Elizabeth George, and Fit For My King by Sheri Rose Shepherd. (Yes, I have too many books going at the same time) I just catch little snippets of each one here and there!

I am hoping...
to lose 10 pounds before my birthday! (March 1)

I am hearing...
nothing except for the small electric heater that is in this room. (Library)

Around the house...
I will do several loads of laundry, straighten all of house, and clean both bathrooms today.

One of my favorite things...
is Cale's new puppy Remington Gauge George.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
just school, daily chores, cooking meals for my family, exercise, possibly a girls afternoon out with Noelle Wednesday.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Today is Monday, May 18, 2009

Outside my window...It's a cool morning. The sun is shining brightly on trees of green. The birds are singing praises to the Creator!

I am thinking...I have a busy-busy week ahead. I am also thinking that I graduated from high school 26 years ago this Wed.~ WOW!

I am thankful for...God's peace, God's joy, God's provision.

From the learning rooms...there is anticipation for this school year to come to an end. Friday is our last day until August!

From the kitchen...Biscuits, bacon, and eggs for Cale. Oatmeal with honey and cinnamon and black coffee for me! Tonights supper consists of chicken tenders, baked potatoes, and rolls.

I am wearing...blue and white house dress. (old and comfy)

I am creating...a healthier family, an organized move, ...

I am going...hopefully no place today.

I am reading...Secure in the Everlasting Arms by Elisabeth Elliot. I just finished Who Brings Forth The Wind by Lori Wick. (for the fourth or fifth time)

I am hoping... my dear friend Kathy has a very happy and blessed birthday Wednesday.

I am hearing...peace and quiet with a few birds in the background.

Around the house...BOXES! I still have more packing to do. During all the chaos, I will continue to keep laundry going and my family fed.

One of my favorite things...just sitting back watching God do His thing in our lives. He's amazing! I stand in awe! Another favorite thing I've discovered in the past week is gumbo and baked fish at a new restaurant we tried. Yum.

A few plans for the rest of the week: visit Kathy, buy more plastic storage boxes, bake some goodies for Wed. night youth group, finish school, ...

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: Monday, March 2, 2009

Outside my window... Mr. Sun is shining brightly. Hard to believe this time yesterday, everything was covered in a blanket of beautiful white snow! It is still cold outside!

I am thinking...I wish my precious family and friends could look in my heart to see just how thankful and overwhelmed I am by their love and kindness.

I am thankful for...waking up to another birthday and for feeling the love of my Heavenly Father, my parents, my husband, my children, and my special friends!

From the learning rooms...I will finish the weekly lesson plans this morning. Cale is reading right now. We will have school as usual this week except for Thursday. I will be out of town for half a day, so we'll have to rearrange our schedule for that one day.

From the kitchen...ham and cheese omelets for breakfast, not sure about lunch, and taco salads for supper. Oh, and of course, there is coffee!!

I am wearing...my blue gown, pink robe, and pink house shoes. (One of these Mondays, my attire will be different I promise!)

I am creating...thank you cards to friends and family for birthday gifts, birthday cards for the month of March... and still working on a healthier me. ( I only maintained last week, weight-wise)

I am going...no place that I know of today.

I am reading...my Bible and blogs.

I am hoping...to work on some more organizing in the house this week and to exercise each day.

I am hearing...peace and quiet.

Around the house...laundry, cooking, school, blogging, cleaning,...

One of my favorite things...Birthdays (mine and everyone else's)

A few plans for the rest of the week: Other than the usual schooling, cooking, cleaning, etc.,
Wed. night Bible Study and an early morning appointment in Tupelo Thur.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: Monday, February 23, 2009

Outside my window... I see the sunshine peeping through the tall pine trees. I also see a frost on the ground! All is calm outside thus far; even the animals seem to still be snug in their burrows, nests, and holes, staying toasty and warm.
I am thinking...how little I am, but how big God is.

I am thankful for...answered prayer. God just amazes me! I'm also thankful that I am 3.4 pounds lighter this morning than I was a week ago!

From the learning rooms...Cale will finish Math and English this morning before his dentist appointment at lunch. He will finish Biology and work on other subjects when we get back home this afternoon. The rest of the week will hopefully go as normal.

From the kitchen...I smell coffee! Breakfast = cinnamon rolls for Cale, oatmeal for me. Lunch = sandwiches/salad. Supper = chicken tenders, baked tots, and rolls (Something quick due to being away from home for a few hours.)

I am wearing...my pastel blue gown with medium blue daisies. (and my PINK house shoes!)

I am creating...a healthier me.

I am going...to Red Bay today for Cale's dentist appointment. After his appointment, we will stop by Piggly Wiggly for some groceries.

I am reading...only my Bible. I have fallen behind in my daily Bible reading.

I am hoping...to exercise 30 minutes today on top of the already busy schedule.

I am hearing...peace and quiet!!! LOVE IT!

Around the house...there is laundry begging to be made clean. I cleaned house Sat., so I will mostly just straighten each room today.

One of my favorite things...singing a duet with Noelle at church. We sang 'The Old Account Was Settled' yesterday morning. What a blessing to this mother.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Tue. night = church visitation, Wed. night = Bible Study, Thur. afternoon = hunter education class for Cale, beauty shop appointment for me, and of course weekly chores and school.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

A boy is a dog's best friend!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: Monday, February 16, 2009

Outside my window... I see a squirrel scampering about on a landscape timber. The sun is peeping through the clouds every now and then.

I am thinking...about my schedule for today.

I am thankful for...having both children home today. I'm also thankful for a good nights rest. I was getting weary.

From the learning rooms...school as usual today. I'm never sure as to what to write here. I am down to one student, so there's not much to share. In the mornings, Cale works in his room on the subjects he does alone while I do my chores. Then, he and I usually work on the other subjects in the living room after he takes a small break and does his a.m. chores.

From the kitchen...I plan to include turnips in the menu for tonight's supper. Mrs. Bernice gave me several from her garden. There is some coconut cake in the fridge left over from last night. I'm doing my best to ignore it!

I am wearing...my warm pink robe. (it matches my PINK house shoes!) :)

I am creating...really nothing at this time, other than a more organized house and a more "fit" me. Yes, I'm starting a diet and exercise program today! (Walk Away The Pounds, Leslie Sansone mixed with Weight Watchers)

I am going...to Piggly Wiggly to buy groceries this afternoon.

I am reading...my Bible and Walk Away The Pounds by Leslie Sansone. I am hoping to begin the Mail Order Bride series by Al & Joanna Lacy sometime this week.

I am hoping...our friend Claire does well after having her wisdom teeth cut out this morning. I am hoping and praying for my Uncle Joyce Lee who begins Chemo and Radiation treatments today. I'm also hoping that my family and friends will say a prayer for me. (read I am creating)

I am hearing...my children's footsteps as they prepare for the day.

Around the house...laundry.... need I say more! I'm not complaining; that just means we have clothes to wear, towels & bath cloths, sheets, etc.

One of my favorite things...being surrounded by family, friends, and church family!

A few plans for the rest of the week: mostly just school during the day, catch up on some ironing, keep organizing, Wed. night Bible study at church, grocery shopping,...

Here is picture thought I am sharing... My father in law Gordon, my daughter Noelle, my husband Scot, my mother in law Nora Ann, and my son Cale. I took this picture last night. Scot's parents visited our church last night and came out to our house after church. Nora Ann brought 2 delicious cakes that we enjoyed after hot dogs and chili!

I am thankful for...being in the center of God's will.

Around the house...2 or 3 loads of clothes need washing, drying, and put away.
