I Played My Best for Him...

The Little Drummer Boy

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

The words and music to the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy was composed by Katherine K. Davis, Henry Onorati and Harry Simeone in 1958.

Wonderful Peace!

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
~Words of Jesus, John 16:33
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
~Words of Jesus, John 14:27
Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!   Matthew 8:26-27
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves therof are still.  Psalm 107:29
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves therof arise, thou stillest them.
 Psalm 89:9
Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial like strains it unceasingly falls
O'er my soul like an infinite calm.

Peace! Peace! wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above;
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
In fathomless billows of love.

31 Years; I've Never Been Sorry

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Thursday, April 26, 1979, around 8 p.m., BY FAITH I accepted the Great Salvation that God so generously, lovingly, and graciously gave us through His son Jesus.   Thirty-one years ago today and it's still as real and precious as it was to that little 14 year old girl that night.  I didn't deserve to be forgiven and saved, still don't; but I'm genuinely thankful and glad that Jesus took my sins upon himself, that I through His blood could obtain eternal life.   I cannot imagine living this life without Him; and I sure can't imagine living in Hell with no end in sight.  But, even if death were the end, which it's not; what a comfort, what a joy to walk with Him and talk with Him each and every day.  I do not have the adequate words to even describe what Salvation means to me.  I wish you could see my heart, or feel what I feel; and then, you'd understand.  I pray you know Him; I mean; REALLY-REALLY know Him.  I pray it's not a head knowledge, but a heart knowledge. I pray Jesus is REAL to you, not just an acquaintance.  Bro. Allen sang a song last night at church that said I wouldn't trade Jesus for anything....  Yes and Amen.

April 26, 1979-Forever

HAVEN OF REST

1. My soul in sad exile was out on life's sea;  So burdened with sin and distressed,
Till I heard a sweet voice saying, Make me your choice;
And I entered the Haven of Rest.

Chorus: I've anchored my soul in the Haven of Rest,
I'll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep o'er the wild stormy deep;
In Jesus I'm safe evermore.

2. I yielded myself to His tender embrace, And faith taking hold of the Word,
My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul;
The Haven of Rest is my Lord.

3. The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole, Has been the old story so blest,
Of Jesus, who'll save whosoever will have
A home in the Haven of Rest.

4. O come to the Savior, He patiently waits, To save by His power divine;
Come, anchor your soul in the Haven or Rest,
And say, My beloved is mine.

SINCE JESUS CAME INTO MY HEART

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart.
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought
Since Jesus came into my heart.

Since Jesus came into my heart
Since Jesus came into my heart
Floods of joy o'er my soul like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.

MY SINS ARE GONE

You ask me why I'm happy so I'll just tell you why,
Because my sins are gone.
And when I meet the scoffers who ask me where they are,
I say, My sins are gone.

They're underneath the Blood on the cross of Calvary
As far removed as darkness is from dawn;
In the sea of God's forgetfulness, that's good enough for me,
Praise God, my sins are gone.

VICTORY IN JESUS

I heard an old old story How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins and won the victory.

O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever,
He sought me and bo't me
With His redeeming blood.
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

AMAZING GRACE

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now I'm found
Twas blind, but now I see.

I'VE NEVER BEEN SORRY

Ever since Jesus saved and pardoned I have been singing every day
I've never been sorry that I trusted His name;
Thru the dark shadows He is with me, leading me on the upward way,
I've never been sorry that I trusted His name.

Hallelujah, What a Savior!

Sometimes I Cry

Sometimes I Cry

I look the part, blend in with the rest of the crowd.
I know the routine,
pack a list of the Bible studies in town.
Watch Christian TV, I know all the preachers and their cliche's.
I've been born again and without a doubt I know I'm saved.

But sometimes I hurt,
Sometimes I cry-
Sometimes I can't get it right
no matter how hard I seem to try.
Sometimes I fall down,
Stumble over my own disguise.
I try to look strong as the whole world looks on,
But sometimes alone I cry.

I try to speak faith, never give the devil one inch to get in.
I do worship and praise,
let everybody know just where that I stand.
On the back of my ride is a fish & a cross for the world to see.
I know God is good all of the time, there's no doubt for me.

America

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord...
Psalm 33:12

America, The Beautiful

by Katharine Lee Bates - 1913

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,

Whose stern impassion'd stress

A thoroughfare for freedom beat

Across the wilderness!

America! America!

God mend thine ev'ry flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self-control,

Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved

In liberating strife,

Who more than self their country loved,

And mercy more than life!

America! America!

May God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness,

And ev'ry gain divine!

O Beautiful for patriot dream

That sees beyond the years

Thine alabaster cities gleam,

Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

Daddy's Hands

Me & My Daddy!

I remember daddy's hands folded silently in prayer

and reaching out to hold me when I had a nightmare.

You could read quite a story in the calluses and lines

years of work and worry had left their mark behind.

I remember daddy's hands how they held my momma tight

and patted my back for something done right.

There are things that I've forgotten that I loved about the man

but I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands.

[chorus]

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin

Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong.

Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand

there was always love in daddy's hands.

I remember daddy's hands working til they bled

sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed.

If I could do things over, I'd live my life again

and never take for granted the love in daddy's hands.

[chorus]

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin

Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong.

Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand

there was always love in daddy's hands.

Psalm 112:1-2

Praise ye the Lord, Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the
generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Happy Spiritual Birthday To Me!

Today is a blessed and glorious day! Thursday, April 26, 1979, approximately 8 PM, I was saved by the amazing and wonderful grace of God. That was 30 years ago~ and I'm not over it yet!

I've Not Got Over It Yet
(words & music, Liesa G. George)
Copyright, 8-27-97

One night long ago

Jesus came and made me whole.

I've not got over it yet.

He became my Lord-

Something I could not afford.

I've not got over it yet.

No, I've not got over it yet.

Since the day, this blessed Jesus I met.

He gets sweeter every day

Walks beside me each step of the way

And I've not got over it yet.

There's been many pleasures

That have come my way.

All have passed

Just a memory- yesterday.

But the night, Jesus saved me

Oh yes, that night, He forgave me,

Well, I've not got over it yet.

My Lord gets sweeter everyday

He walks beside me each step of the way.

And I've not got over it yet.

It's been 30 years,

I'm not over it yet!

Alabaster Box

Alabaster Box
(CeCe Winans)
(Turn speakers up to listen to this touching song)

The room grew still
As she made her way to Jesus
She stumbled through the tears that made her blind
She felt such pain
Some spoke in anger
Heard folks whisper
There's no place here for her kind
Still on she came
Through the shame that flushed her face
Until at last, she knelt before his feet
And though she spoke no words
Every word she said was heard
As she poured her love for the Master
From her box of Alabaster

Chorus:
And I've come to pour
My praise on Him-like oil
From Mary's alabaster box
Don't be angry if I wash His feet with my tears
And dry them with my hair
You weren't there-the night He found me
You did not feel what I felt
When He wrapped His loving arms around me
And you don't know the cost
Of the oil in my alabaster box

I can't forget
The way life used to be
I was a prisoner
To the sins that had me bound
I spent my days
Poured my life-without measure
Into a little treasure box
I thought I had found
Until the day-when Jesus came to me
And healed my soul
With the wonders of-His love
So now I'm giving back to Him
All the praise He's worthy of
I've been forgiven
And that's why
I love Him so much

What Wondrous Love Is This

Matthew 28:6 is my son's favorite Bible verse. He's quoted it for many years. It's a good verse to memorize because in this verse, there is hope, there is life, there is victory! In this verse, there is eternal salvation for all who believe; sin's chains were broken and Satan was defeated! He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

BUT...

I have been guilty of reading through the events leading up to that verse so quickly and it's almost like it all happens within minutes. That's not true. I need to stop and remember the suffering, the humiliation, and the betrayals my Lord felt. I've never really felt alot of physical pain in my life. There was a time that I had migraines quite often, but other than that and child birth, I've really never hurt alot. My mind cannot even fathom the pain and suffering Jesus felt. Just being chosen to die and being innocent is painful enough for me! I can just hear me saying, "This is not fair." And it wasn't. Jesus was offering eternal life to the very people who wanted him crucified. I can hear me again, "Fine, you don't want to go to heaven, don't!" He was scourged, stripped, spit upon, they smote him on the head with a reed, mocked him, put a crown of thorns on his head, and all of this was before they nailed him to the cross.

Matthew 27:33-35
And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Jesus loved even while he was suffering. He was understanding even while he was suffering. He was forgiving even while he was suffering.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Luke 23:42-43 And he (one of the malefactors on a cross beside Jesus) said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

My words are so inadequate describing the events that lead to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Let us not forget these events. And let us not forget the REASON he suffered, bled and died. "I" am the reason. You can substitute your name for the "I". Friend, he died just for you. What wondrous love is this, O my soul! Love Him, Praise Him, and Serve Him today!

What Wondrous Love Is This

By: American Folk Hymn

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!

What wondrous love is this, O my soul!

What wondrous love is this

That caused the Lord of bliss

To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,

To bear the dreadful curse for my soul!

When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,

When I was sinking down, sinking down,When I was sinking down

Beneath God’s righteous frown,

Christ laid aside His crown for my soul for my soul,

Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing;

To God and to the Lamb I will sing;

To God and to the Lamb, Who is the great I AM,

While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,

While millions join the theme, I will sing.

And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on;

And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on.

And when from death I’m free I’ll sing His love for me,

And through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,

And through eternity I’ll sing on.

He Lives

He Lives

I serve a risen Saviour,

He's in the world today;

I know that He is living,

Whatever men may say;

I see His hand of mercy,

I hear His voice of cheer,

And just the time I need Him

He's always near.

Chorus:

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!

He walks with me and He talks with me

Along life's narrow way.

He lives, He live, salvation to impart!

You ask me how I know He lives:

He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me

I see His loving care,

And tho my heart grows weary

I never will despair;

I know that He is leading

Thro' all the stormy blast,

The day of His appearing

Will come at last.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,

Lift up your voice and sing

Eternal hallelujahs

To Jesus Christ the King!

The hope of all who seek Him,

The help of all who find,

None other is so loving,

So good and kind.

I Know He Watches Me

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

~Matthew 6:25-34 (Words of my Lord and Savior Jesus)

HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Anyway

I love the words to this song. Turn your speakers up and you can hear it on my playlist.

Anyway
You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway
This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea - I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea, sing it anyway
Yeah, yeah!
I sing
I dream
I love anyway

I'd Do It All Over Again

A few years ago, Scot was asked to speak at a Valentine Banquet and I was asked to sing. They wanted a "love" song. I am not morbid, but I handle funeral songs much better than wedding songs. They are just easier songs to sing. I get literally sick when I sing at weddings. I've pretty much sworn off from singing at weddings. Back to my story.... I searched and searched for a song to sing at the banquet, and about 2 days before the event, I sat down and decided just to write my own song. And it goes like this:

I'D DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN

Chorus:
I'd do it all over again. I'd do it all over again.
I'd be your bride, I'd stand by your side.
Yes, I'd do it all over again.

1. We've been together for many years.
We've had our joys and we've shed some tears.
Knowing now all I didn't know then.
I'd still do it all over again.

2. I sang to you on our wedding day.
Whither thou goest, that's where I'd stay.
Not even knowing where our steps would end.
I'd do it all over again.

3. When our time down here shall come to pass.
Already it's gone by seems too fast.
No matter what comes our way til then,
I'd do it all over again.

4. I thank God for the good times,
I thank Him for the bad.
I thank Him for all the precious years we've had.
And when we get to heaven, I know I'll say,
No regrets!
I'd do it again.

(Words & Music- Liesa G. George, Copy Right Feb. 02)

Ruth 1:16-17
And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if aught but
death part thee and me.

I'd Rather Have Jesus

This song is Noelle's favorite. It comes to my mind today. Enjoy. Let the words soak into your heart.

I'd Rather Have Jesus

1st Verse
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses and lands.
I'd rather be led by his nail-pierced hand.

Chorus:
Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin's dread sway;
I'd rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today.

2nd verse
I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause,
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wife fame.
I'd rather be true to His holy name.

3rd verse
He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs.
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

The Everlasting Arms

1. When trouble comes my way

So dark seems the day,

I just rest on the Everlasting Arms.

When I've gone the last mile

And my body begins to fail,

I'll just rest on the Everlasting Arms.

Chorus: I'll just rest on the Everlasting Arms

For I know they will keep me from all harm.

When I am in despair,

The Eternal God is always there,

And underneath are His Everlasting Arms.

2. When I'm weak, He is strong,

I trust in Him all the day long.

He's my Refuge and my Port in the storm.

He's always there, He'll never leave

More closely to him I will cling,

I'm so glad for the Everlasting Arms.

Talk of Him

(words & music by Liesa Gentle George)

1. Momma told me about Jesus

How He died and rose again.

She told me He is everywhere

Yet He sits at His Fathers right hand.

She said He walked on water

And He made the blind to see.

And that He could live in the soul of man

Now Jesus lives inside of me.

2. Now children, He is with you

Each moment of the day.

And He hears every single word that you say.

I tell it to my children

Like my momma told it to me.

She got her story from the Bible

Then she passed it on to me.

3. I sit there in my rocking chair

Hours on end.

Singing Jesus loves me

Again and again.

I want to give them all the best

That is why I sing

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me.

Ch.

Talk of Him when thou sittest

When you walk by the way.

Talk of Him at bedtime

And at the break of day.

Write His Words upon the posts

Of your earthly home.

Talk of Him

Pass it on.

Tag:

Talk of Jesus

Deut. 6:7-9

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,

and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,

and when thou walkest by the way,

and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand,

and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of they house,

and on thy gates.

I'm Just An Old Fashioned Momma

I'm just an old fashioned momma

Living in a modern world.

Trying to do the best for my son and little girl.

I feel out of place

In this old worldly land.

I'm just an old fashioned momma

Living in a modern world.

1. Walking the straight and narrow,

Closer to God everyday.

Thats the way it was

Back in the olden days.

But now we're fanatics

If we raise our voice and hands.

I'm just an old fashioned momma

Headin' for a Better Land.

2. Who you are and what you haves

Important these modern days.

Our worship is so organized

The Holy Spirit can't have His way.

I'm often asked my title

If I'm a career girl.

No, I'm an old fashioned momma

Living in a modern world.
